So, I have to travel this weekend, so I tried to put something together earlier. By the way, happy new year, people.

Creative Cut
Random bursts of creativity.
This week’s Creative Cut was a bit weird. It was a sketch I directed, wrote, and acted in (of course, I was the only one in the room, and nothing was really written) about an hour. I want to start getting into writing and producing small sketches similar to that. However, I hope to not only invoke comedy, but also drama (and of course, some type of benefit, unlike today’s experiment). I also “cloned” myself on the video.
For anyone that wants to know how:
Set up a tripod, and don’t move it. Film yourself in one spot on the screen, and then on another spot. Try to make it cohesive like you’re actually talking to yourself (unlike in my video, where it was a bit off). A script is ideal. Timing must also be impeccable. Then, in editing:
In Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9, (long editor title, also known as just ‘Vegas’), you put the two videos, one on top of the over (each on its own video track). Then, on the top video, you add the cookie cutter effect with a square and white border. Lower the border to 0 and move around the mask until it includes the person. If there’s a distinct line between the two shots, increase the ‘feather’. There’s a good video I used to do this here.
There’s also ways to do it in other programs, look it up on YouTube (even Windows Movie Maker does it).
Happy New Year everyone.
Wasalaamu ‘Alaikum.
